Boy incited into cyber sex act by Cumbrian circus performer

A Cumbrian circus performer has admitted inciting a 14-year-old boy to perform a sex act over the internet.

Twenty-seven-year-old Christopher John Hodder, of Wiseber, Kirkby Stephen, pleaded guilty at Carlisle Crown Court to two charges of inciting the boy to engage in sexual activity.

The first stated that “for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification” he caused the boy to look at a picture of a man holding his penis.

The second was a similar charge that stated he had incited the boy to perform a sex act over the internet.

At an earlier hearing a prosecution lawyer described the offences – both committed sometime in 2012 - as “grooming the boy on Facebook”.

Hodder was remanded on bail for background reports and will be sentenced on June 13.

The length of time he will have to stay on the sex offenders’ register depends on the sentence that is imposed on him then.
