Arrests in west Cumbria drugs raids

Eight homes were raided across west Cumbria in a drugs crackdown.

Police said heroin, amphetamine, cannabis and methadone were seized during yesterday’s operation and two people arrested.

Four others were interviewed.

The raids, which took place in Workington, Whitehaven and Maryport, involved officers from CID, the Territorial Policing Unit and the dog unit.

One woman, 25, from Casson Road, Workington, was bailed until May for forensic examination of drugs and a 25-year-old woman, from Mulgrew Close, Maryport, was cautioned for possession of heroin.

A 28-year-old man from Bounty Avenue, Maryport, was interviewed for possession of methadone.

A 22-year-old man from Clay Street, Workington, was given a fixed penalty notice for possessing cannabis and a 22-year-old woman from Lattrigg Road, Whitehaven, was given a warning for possession of cannabis.
