Carlisle woman dreaming of holidays after cash win

Pensioner Anne Ellwood loves to read the News & Star and its sister paper The Cumberland News.

Now her love of newspapers has left her £1,000 richer after she joined our growing list of lucky winners in the News & Star’s Super September cash giveaway.

“It’s the first time I’ve won something like this and it’s wonderful,” said Anne, 67, who lives at Chesterholm, Sandsfield Park.

A regular reader of both our Carlisle based newspapers, Anne said: “I read the News & Star every day – and I read The Cumberland News. I’d be frightened of missing something if I didn’t read the News & Star. It’s a good read.”

Anne plans to use her windfall to pay for a holiday.
