Alexandra Burke to support JLS at Carlisle summer concert

Pop princess Alexandra Burke will join JLS at their massive outdoor concert in Carlisle’s Bitts Park.

The singer beat JLS to the talent show crown in 2008 but both acts have gone onto enjoy glittering success.

Alexandra will be performing a mix of her past and present songs, including the dance collaboration with Erick Morillo, Elephant, which reached number three last month.

Older hits will be belted out too: she’s enjoyed three number one singles – Hallelujah, Bad Boys and Start Without You, a number debut album and a sell-out, solo tour playing no less than 30 UK venues.

In 2010, Alexandra was asked by Beyoncé to open each of her shows for the European leg of her I Am… tour.

She performed at Carlisle Racecourse last summer, at a rain-soaked Ladies’ Night.

It was announced last month that JLS would be playing Carlisle – one of only six UK dates.

The boyband hearthrobs have five number one singles, a string of sold out tours and three platinum LPs behind them.

“Bringing together a mix of some of the biggest young talents on today’s UK music scene means these concerts not only just got even bigger and better, but also provide an opportunity for fans to be able to say ‘I was there’,” says tour spokesman Dion Clements.

“And with guest names still to be announced, these concerts will provide unbeatable value for money and a great event to look forward to towards the end of the summer holidays.”

JLS, Alexandra Burke, plus special guests to be announced are at Bitts Park, Carlisle, on August 25. Tickets £33.50 plus booking fee. Visit www.gigantic.com or call 0844 888 9991.

The biggest scotch egg in the world - can Cumbria crack the record?

Yes. There's nothing we don't know about food - or portion control.

Hope so - another feather in our cap.

What a waste of time. Just silly.
