Two men accused of assaulting a female couple in an allegedly "homophobic" late night attack in Penrith have gone on trial.
Carlisle Crown Court heard today how Laura Price was left with blood "spurting" from a head wound after she was allegedly set upon at around midnight on August 18 last year.
Miss Price told jurors her head was repeatedly kicked and jumped on by three men while she lay on the floor beside Penrith Leisure Centre, and that a footprint was left on her face.
She said her partner, Yazmin Wood, also had her face stamped on, and that the couple were subjected to "very derogatory", homophobic abuse by the trio moments earlier.
The court heard one man, 29-year-old Ross Paterson, of Unitas Crescent, Carluke, Scotland, has admitted assaulting both women, causing them actual bodily harm.
However, two other males, Kevin Alexander Docherty, 35, of Castlebay Street, Glasgow, and 20-year-old Kyle Jonathan Russell Hill, of Glenafeoch Road, Carluke, have pleaded not guilty to two ABH charges, and are said to deny using any violence.
The trial continues.
