Cumbria Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the B5345 at St Bees.

The crash occurred at around 2pm on Sunday, April 2 and involved a green Ford Focus which was in collision with a pedal bike being cycled by a 48-year-old man.

The man was airlifted to hospital having suffered serious injuries.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking without consent and dangerous driving.

A 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were also arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking without consent. All three have been released on police bail.

The road was closed for six hours whilst a forensic collision investigation was carried out.
