Did it get hit by a car? Or did something else cause the bin and the pavement to be damaged?
A News & Star reader sent us this photo of the rubbish bin outside of the Tesco store in Victoria Viaduct, Carlisle, which was taken this morning.
The member of the public believed there had been some kind of crash overnight involving the bin which has left it with a big dent and the brickwork pavement damaged.
Loose bricks were seen next to the bin this morning.
However, Cumbria Police say they have no record of any crash or incident in the area being reported to them so what happened to the bin, for now, remains a mystery.
