Stunning video footage has been captured of Storm Ali blowing over Crummock Water - making the popular lake look like the sea.
Geography tutor Richard Peasland, from Cockermouth, filmed the video today as the storm hit its peak.
Such was the strength of wind - topping 100mph in places - it blew the water at Crummock and created large waves.
Richard tweeted: "The water getting blown out of Crummock Water by Storm Ali."
The video, published by the News & Star with the permission of Mr Peasland, also shows the wind propping up a person who was leaning into the gusts.
