A West Cumbrian charity's Christmas jumper fundraiser was hailed a success.

Over 18 organisations took part in Hospice At Home West Cumbria's fundraising event on Friday, three times more than its first event of this type last year.

Deana Grills, marketing and media coordinator, said: "It's been absolutely fantastic, it means a lot to us to have all these people getting involved and supporting us. Every single penny stays locally."
The charity is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

People have been sharing pictures of themselves donning the festive sweaters and Deana said lots were shared to the charity's social media pages.

Deana added: "I think with the anniversary people have found more about us and all the services we offer, that's why we got more support for the Christmas jumper day.

"It's been great to see people rallying around in the community to support us."

Schools also took part in the fundraising event, including Whitehaven Academy, Seaton Junior School and Energy Coast UTC.

The charity is still collecting money from participating organisation, but it hopes to reach £400.

Hospice At Home West Cumbria provides end of life care for people in their own home.

It also provides lymphoedema care and family and bereavement support services.
