The community is set to benefit from new crockery at a Cumbrian church, thanks to new funding.

Cleator Moor Methodist Church has been given a grant of £150 from Cleator Moor town council, which it has used to buy china mugs and teapots.

The Rev Nan Pryde said: "These will enable us to continue our work at coffee mornings, ecumenical events, at activities that happen in Cleator Moor like community events, Lent lunches and charity events."

The crockery was used for the first time at a coffee morning, attended by about 30 people, at the church last Friday.

Rev Pryde says the coffee mornings are a great social event for people to attend.

She thanked Cleator Moor town council for the grant for the crockery, and praised the council for their good work in the community.

Helen Gilmour, town council clerk, said: "We try and support lots of organisations in the town.

"The Methodist church is often and always a good support for the things that we have in the town.

"We are grateful. If if helps them put other things on in this town, we are more than happy to help."

The church host numerous activities and events for the community.

On Friday there will be a community event at the church, which will be open to all.

It will feature a chocolate tombola, raffle, cake stall, and coffee morning.

The event runs from 10am.
