THIEVES broke in to a Cumbrian home - then drove off in one of the family's cars.

The burglary happened at a house in Cypress Way, Penrith, in the early hours of Monday morning.

The thieves stole two sets of car keys - one for the residents' BMW 320D saloon car, which was then stolen.

The keys for a Volvo were also taken, but not the vehicle.

The BMW was found later that day in Lancashire.

Also taken during the burglary was a Scott mountain bike, which has not yet been recovered.

The burglars entered the home through a back window.
