A singer was so inspired by the beauty and tranquility of a Cumbrian castle, she has decided to host her very own concert there.

Helen Hutchinson performed in the chapel at Rose Castle, near Dalston, with the Wordsworth Singers earlier this year.

Inspired by the setting of the castle chapel and the success of the event, she thought it would be amazing to host a more intimate event that not only celebrated musical talent, but also took the audience on a journey through history.

And so, she organised a Reformation Concert, to be held at the beautiful Grade I-listed building on Sunday.

It will tell the story of the Reformation, taking the audience from the 14th century to the 17th century via music and historical talks.

Georgia May, who works for the Rose Castle Foundation which will benefit from the concert, explained: "The Reformation theme is significant given Martin Luther King was reforming the church 500 years ago, a time of change that Rose Castle was itself a witness to.

"The concert promises to be a spectacular event with much to learn as well as being music to the ears.

"The Rose Castle Foundation is incredibly grateful for Helen's initiative in organising this and for the contribution it will make to our work.

"We love being able to open the castle doors to the public and what better way, than to invite people to an event that is so historically rich in a setting that is also steeped in historical interest."

There are still places available for the concert, which takes place at 3pm.

Tickets cost £10, with all proceeds to the foundation - which is responsible for transforming the castle into an international centre for peace and reconciliation, uniting groups, faiths and organisations from around the world.

Spaces must be booked in advance by emailing helen@eichler.plus.com or calling/texting Helen on 07780 682373.
