A section of the A66 will be closed this weekend as part of a £5m improvement scheme.
The busy route was closed between Kirkby Thore and Low Moor, east of Penrith, at 10pm last night (fri) and will not reopen until 3am on Monday.
It is the third successive weekend closure due to a road reconstruction which started on September 7.
There will be four more weekends of closure after this weekend.
#A66 - just a reminder that it's weekend 3/7 for our £5m Eden Valley improvements with the road closed in both directions from 10pm tonight until 3am Monday. Thank you for your support and patience. Full information on the project webpage: https://t.co/i0zC9GeSx4

Highways England is also using the opportunity to do other repairs and maintenance - resurfacing in six other locations between Penrith and the Long Marton junction - during the 17 days of work.
Due to physical constraints such as a bridge, nearby properties and services it said the only practicable way of completing the work is to close the A66.
Diversions are in place.
In the first weekend of closure Cumbria Police dealt with 140 speeding offences, with most caught by speed camera vans from the constabulary's Mobile Support Group.
