A BAND who named themselves after a Carlisle landmark are now using the city as inspiration for their latest video.

Hardwicke Circus are calling on local people to star in the film for their new single Why You Looking For Love.

To date the rock and roll band, formerly known as the Alleys, have been filming at prominent locations across Carlisle and surrounding areas, including Carlisle Castle and Cathedral.

But front man Jonny Foster said they want to feature as many local faces as possible so are putting on a free gig this weekend, where everyone will have the chance to get involved.

He told the News & Star: “It’s about a Cumbrian band doing this in Cumbria. The support across town after the floods has been amazing so we really wanted to capture that essence.

“We are from Carlisle and love the area. It’s a chance to put Carlisle on screen. To show Carlisle through the eyes of Hardwicke Circus – the nightlife, local people, the spirit.”

The band have been working with local production company Bosc and are calling on people from all walks of life to get involved.

Saturday’s free gig will take place at The Source, in Atlas Works, Denton Holme. Afterwards the band will lead the audience on a late-night parade, which will be filmed as part of the video.

Jonny added: “Ideally we want about 200 people to march with us down the street. We want people to turn up with all kinds of props, in costume, whatever they want. We’ve got Cumbria flags.

“Doors open at 8.30pm and we want the place to be packed.”

The band will release the new single at the end of this month.
