Roads are still closed throughout the county after Storm Ophelia caused havoc though the night.

These are:

A5094 Irish Street Whitehaven,Roof off building

Dubmill Point, High tide debris

North Shore Road Whitehaven, High tide debris

Haile to Cold Fell, Tree down

A595 Junction Corney Fell Duddon Bridge. Tree Down

West Cumbria was worst hit, with county council highways crews attending more than 30 incidents.

The storm brought down trees, tore a roof off a building in Whitehaven and even ripped the heads of traffic lights.

And high tides teamed with the wind resulted in debris piled on sone of Cumbria's coastal routes, particularly Whitehaven's North Shore.

A spokesman for the county council said: "It's been a wild night and our teams have worked incredibly hard to respond quickly to incidents and get roads cleared.

"We were well prepared yesterday and that paid off. The clean-up will continue through the day so there is likely to be some local disruption, please give yourself extra times for journeys just in case and look out for further updates via our social media feeds."
