Classic cars and prestige motors sat side-by-side as hundreds of petrol heads took in the sights at the Cumbria Auto Show.

A stunning collection of Ferrari, McLaren and BMW cars wowed the audience int the 'Cars you don't see on your way to work' section of show held at Carlisle's Borderway Mart, Rosehill.

Cars from all over the north of England had gathered for Sunday's showcase which not only included prestige motors and classic vehicles but highly modified and tuned cars of types.

Many enthusiasts had entered their cars into the show in a bid to show off the work they'd carried out to their cars while lots of people simply turned up for a top day out.

Peter Little brought his son Dean, 13, from Gretna, to see the show.

Peter said: "I've been before but this is the first time Dean has been. He is absolutely car mad so this is great for him.

"He loves the Nissan GTR when he's on the Xbox games he's always that one, it's his favourite."

The show wasn't just about browsing either as there were stunt shows and teams competitions as well as a Forza video game tournament.

Traders and car dealers had stalls at the event along with stands from different car and motor clubs.

They included Irving Armstrong, who is part of the Northern Phoenix Trial Cars Club based in Penrith.

He owns a 1650cc Kincraft 1979 trial cars and had it on show.

"This is a very good show," he said.

"There's more cars here than a show we used to go to outside Kendal. This is our first time here."

Martin Leacy had brought his pristine MK2 Ford Focus RS to show. He said: "We came last time from Blackburn and we travel all over doing this. This is a good show and it's bigger than what is was last year, a lot bigger."
