Three-year-old Noah Graham never got to meet his aunty Sally - but that hasn't stopped her playing a big part in his life.

Popular Carlisle teenager Sally Glendinning was just 17 when she died of meningitis in 2011.

Her family have since raised thousands of pounds in her memory - and now nephew Noah has joined them.

The tot, whose mother is Sally's sister Laura Graham, signed up to take part in a toddle waddle in aid of Meningitis Now.

He was joined on the walk, around the park at Scotby, by his mum, grandma Anne Glendinning (Sally's mum), grandma Kerry Graham, his aunty Sammy Graham and Laura's aunty Fiona Jessiman.

Not one to miss out, his little brother Ethan, just seven months old, was also pushed along the route in his pram.

Laura said: "It was a really lovely day. Three generations all taking part in this fundraiser in memory of Sally.

"Noah didn't get to meet Sally but she would have loved him.

"He'd have been spoiled rotten. I want him to know all about her, so she's still a big part of his life, just as she is mine."

She said it was a hot day but Noah enjoyed the toddle waddle, and understood why he was taking part.

"I asked him if he knew where we were going and he said it was for aunty Sally and that people had been giving him lots of pennies. He's only young but he liked being part of it," she added.

The family were delighted that's Noah's walk raised more than £300, which will be donated to charity Meningitis Now to fund research into the illness and support other families who are affected.

Laura added: "As well as raising money, we also want to raise awareness because young children can get it, not just teenagers.

"Now I have children of my own it really hits you.

"I just want everyone to be aware of the symptoms."
