An NHS director has been appointed as the new chair of the Carlisle College board.
Patrick McGahon, who lives in the Eden Valley, has worked as a board director in the NHS and the not-for-profit sector for more than 20 years.
Mr McGahon is currently the director of finance and commercial services at the NHS Business Services Authority.
In that role he has led the development of an apprenticeship strategy. He also studied A-level economics at Carlisle College.
He said: “I’m delighted to be taking up the role of Chair of the Carlisle College Board. I’m passionate about skills development and its paramount importance in growing Carlisle and the surrounding area.
"I look forward to driving forward the key role that the College has to play in implementing the Cumbria LEP skills investment plan. I’m a firm believer in lifelong learning and opening up opportunities for all."
