A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital after a serious crash on a key Cumbrian route.
The biker, who was involved in the collision with a Vauxhall van on the A66, was flown to the Royal Preston Infirmary with potentially life-changing injuries.
A man from the Keswick area, who was driving the van, was not injured but was in shock.
The road was closed - in both directions between the A591 and A592 near Keswick - following the incident just before 5pm today.
Police collision investigators were at the scene and the road reopened at about 9.45pm.
A spokesman for Cumbria police said it appeared that there was a group of motorcyclists travelling together. There are no reports of any other injuries.
A diversion was in place for both westbound and eastbound traffic.
