Members of Whitehaven Coastguard Rescue Team were called to St Bees following reports that a man had fallen.
The team was contacted by CGOC Belfast Coastguard and attended the scene.
However when they arrived, they found that the man had already been rescued by St Bees RNLI and had been passed into the care of the North West Ambulance Service.
