The former Farm Foods shop in Carlisle city centre is being taken over by a new hair and beauty salon called Gabriel Ruane.

Gabriel Ruane Salon hair is a concept brand and the visionary’s behind this are director Koln Murray and creative director, Kath Priacz.

Koln’s background is in property development and Kath owns a salon in Dumfries.

Kath said: "The Gabriel Ruane Salon Hair philosophy is that hair is such an important part of our clients appearance that the right cut or colour must match their personality and lifestyle and help boost our clients self esteem.

"We will provide every client with the finest treatments and services within the hair and beauty industry, and along the way embracing the concept of having fun and making friends.

"When you walk through the door at Gabriel Ruane, the focus will be on you and your needs. Our clients will treated as friends, we want you to relax and enjoy our salon experience."

Work on the Lowther Street premises is due to start soon and it will hopefully open next month.

The salon will feature a modern entrance with retail area where it will stock and use the Unite Professional Salon System.

Koln said: "No expense has been spared in the fit out of the salon with high quality furniture and fittings being used.

"We wanted to develop a salon with a classic modern look, which is all part of the Gabriel Ruane Salon Hair Concept that delivers of a quality service in a salon that has the wow

factor."

Emily Marchi has been appointed salon manager. Recruitment for other jobs is ongoing.

Kath said: "We see Emily as the natural choice to take forward our team in our new state of the art concept salon at Carlisle.”

Emily said: "From my time training with Nelson Brown, who was Scottish Hairdresser of the Year 2011, to the Vidal Sasson's training methodology to being one of 20 finalists in Scotland and Northern England Region for the finals of Trend Vision run by Wella, I have always strived to develop professionally.

"I recently returned from Australia where I spent a year as senior stylist/manager at Hairscope of Sydney.

"With all my experiences I’ve grown and developed so much professionally.

"To be able to directly input into the growth of this salon at both a creative and business management level is wonderful – it’s a dream come true for me."

Farm Foods moved out of its city centre store last year and moved into new premises in Shaddongate.
