Firefighters from Carlisle were called to a two-vehicle crash on the M6 on Saturday night.
It happened on the northbound carriageway between junction 41 for the B5305 and junction 42 Carlisle south.
A crew from Carlisle East fire station was called at around 11.30pm.
A spokesman said that two vehicles, one of which was an Audi A4, were involved and that the occupants of both vehicles were checked over by ambulance staff who also attended the scene.
