A little girl got the trip of her young life, when she flew to Paris to meet Cinderella and the gang.

Ella Gale has been through so much in her short life, having been diagnosed with the extremely rare genetic condition Lissencephaly, which affects just one in 12 million.

It means the hills and valleys on her brain have not developed properly, with many symptoms similar to cerebral palsy.

She is as cheeky and determined as any other three-year-old, but with restrictions on her movements and development she faces her own daily struggles.

Despite this, Ella, of Boston Avenue, in Currock, Carlisle, almost always has a smile on her face and is doted on by younger brother Jacob, and parents Rob Gale and Hayleigh Boyd.

After one trip to hospital, the family came across a leaflet about the Make A Wish Foundation, which grants wishes to children with life-limiting illnesses.

Thanks to the charity, Ella and her family - joined by both sets of grandparents - were flown to Disneyland Paris for the weekend.

They arrived back home on Tuesday night, and mum Hayleigh says it was the trip of a lifetime.

"Ella's best bit was seeing all the characters, although it took her a while to get used to them," she told the News & Star.

"They were all so brilliant and patient with her. Ella also loved the slinkey ride - she laughed the whole way round. She was just so happy."

Hayleigh continued: "Ella also loved the show at the end of the night with all the special effect lights and music that lit up castle."

To top off a magical trip, Make A Wish also wrote to Air France, letting them know about their special passenger.

At the end of the flight, the airline pilot and crew invited Ella and her mum into the cockpit to show her the buttons and lights.

"The cabin crew with fab with us," said Hayleigh.

"We honestly can't thank Make A Wish Foundation enough, especially Steph. They thought of absolutely everything for us and made everything as easy as possible with Ella.

"They have made all our wishes come true: just to see our beautiful Ella's face, to hear her laugh and to see the twinkle in her eye when she saw all the characters."
