Meet Beau Studholme - the 15-year-old who's hoping she can fire the England women's football team to World Cup glory in the future.

With the Premier League transfer window in full swing, the Wigton teenager has just secured a dream move of her own by landing a place in the Manchester City squad.

She's been snapped up by the oil-rich club from Sunderland where she's spent the last three years at the heart of their defence.

It means she'll be playing in the top tier for her age group and with Beau already representing England at under-15s she hopes the move will cement her a place in the under-17s squad which is gearing up to compete in the World Cup next year.

"I'm really excited because I know how big they are," Beau told the News & Star .

"Because I play for England I'm already friends with some of the girls so I'm looking forward to playing with them."

While at Man City Beau, a pupil at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Penrith, is hoping to emulate her idol - England legend and City star Jill Scott.

"I would like to make it into the Man City development squad for next year and hopefully then on to the first team," she added.

Her mum Sarah said: "I'm so proud of her. When she made her England debut and the national anthem was playing I was nearly crying.

"It takes the whole family to keep things moving, it's a big team effort."

Beau lives at Westward, just outside of Wigton with Sarah, dad Richard, older brother Dion, younger brother Bruno and younger sister Tabatha.

"For the last four years we have travelled to Sunderland, it's the same job now just slightly further," Sarah added.

"It's a big commitment and Beau spends a lot of time doing homework in the back of the car for example. She makes the best use of her time and is doing well in school too.

"I want to let all the youngsters know that they can achieve what they want if they work hard."

Beau is also looking for local businesses to help her achieve her dream by sponsoring her.
