A north Cumbrian university lecturer has been playing a vital role in a creative collaboration which sees the worlds of theatre and medicine collide.
Stevie Prickett, a lecturer in dance and physical theatre at the University of Cumbria’s Institute of the Arts at Brampton Road, Carlisle, has celebrated the North American premiere of his latest project.
'Reassembled Slightly Askew' enjoyed a five-day residency at the Summerworks performance festival in Toronto, which ended last Sunday.
It is an autobiographical, audio-based artwork about the writer and producer Shannon Yee's experience of falling critically ill with a rare brain infection and her journey of rehabilitation with an acquired brain injury.
The production, created over a five-year period of research and development, uses pioneering technology to cause listeners to feel they are inside Shannon's head.
Stevie was the choreographer who worked with colleagues including dramaturg Hanna Slattne.
The artistic team also collaborated with members of Shannon's medical team including consultant neurosurgeon Mr Roy Connell.
