One corner of Carlisle had its own festival today with as many as 500 people expected to turnout.

Manor Fest, at Morton Manor Community Centre, was called off due to torrential rain last year but large crowds had gathered before this year's event even started.

The festival, which has been run for about six years, is a free event for the whole community to enjoy.

Centre manager Pam Graham said: "The house was bequeathed to the people of Morton so we try, once a year, to put a free event on for the local community as a way of saying thank you for their support over the years."

The event includes a fun fair, bar, barbecue, children entertainer and live music.

It was made possible thanks to a £3,000 grant from Cumbria County Council.
