57 homes in Carlisle without water

A burst main has left 57 homes in Carlisle without water this morning.

Properties in the Infirmary Street and Canal Court area are affected, United Utilities confirmed.

The water main burst near the McVities factory and was reported at around 3.30am.

Supply had to be completely shut down but some homes have been reconnected by using different pipes in the network.

A repair team is on its way to the scene and is expected to arrive at about 8.15am.

A spokeswoman for United Utilities apologised for the disruption and said every effort is being made to restore supplies as quickly as possible.

Will changes to the stop and search code increase your trust in the police?

I already trust our police to act in the best interests of the law-abiding

Don't care. I doubt stop and search is used much in Cumbria anyway

No. Who's to say the new code will be followed faithfully?
