About 50 teenagers are spending their half-term holiday this week shadowing some of the biggest business names in the county.

They are taking part in the Dream Placement scheme, led by the Cockermouth-based Centre for Leadership Development.

Among them are sixth formers Amelia Harrison, from The Nelson Thomlinson School in Wigton, and Daniel Dalton, a sixth former at Trinity School, Carlisle.

The pair are joining Story Homes, one of more than 25 companies and organisations taking part.

Daniel and Amelia are being set the task of assessing two pieces of land for development during their week with the housebuilder.

The firm's Shelley Hayward said: “Both Amelia and Daniel are amazingly talented students who are looking forward to the opportunity to help build their confidence in communications, work-place skills and gain experience within a variety of departments.”

Now in its fifth year, Dream Placement aims to attract and retain young talent and show teenagers the career opportunities available.
