POLICE have asked parents to remind their children that 'building sites are not playgrounds' after a number of complaints around anti-social behaviour (ASB) at a Longtown site.

Carlisle police issued the appeal after a number of reports of children gaining access to a building site and throwing bricks at some of the machinery on the site.

The force has asked parents to speak to their children about the dangers of playing on building sites and stressed they should stay away from them

In a statement on social media, Carlisle police said: "We have received a number of complaints regarding youths causing ASB within the building site on Netherby Road.

"The reports of ASB have included gaining access into the site and throwing bricks at the buildings and machinery on site.

"Building sites are NOT playgrounds and hold a number of obvious dangers to children.

"Parents can you please speak to your children about the dangers of a building site and ask that they stay away."
