A new laundrette has opened as an expansion of an established holiday home cleaning business.

Clean Team Cumbria, based in Whitehaven, has recently opened a laundrette at the Sneckyeat Industrial Estate.

The business was originally set up in 2020 by Claire Dixon, but has now expanded from holiday home cleaning to offering laundry as well as selling holiday home essentials like linen, towels, and welcome packs in its shop which also offers espresso-based coffee for customers while they wait.

Mrs Dixon said she hopes the announcement will be good news for customers needing professional laundry in Whitehaven.

The business offers dry cleaning, ironing, as well as general service washing, and offers a delivery service.

“It goes hand in hand – cleaning and laundry go together, especially when you’re doing holiday cottages like us,” Mrs Dixon said.

Clean Team Cumbria’s holiday home clients include Sykes and Sally’s, as well as independent holiday home owners.

They’re looking for new staff, likely three people to work part-time as cleaners for the holiday cottages.

Other products they offer include candles and reed diffusers, and in the future will be looking at expanding to cover all holiday home needs, such as remodelling and more.

“We’re trying to get all of our standards up as well, a lot of the holiday cottages are a bit sub-standard on the west side,” Mrs Dixon explained, adding that the area’s natural beauty means it could become a tourism hub that rivals Keswick and the wider Lakes.
