HERE in Cumbria it often feels like there is no shortage of things to do or places to visit. 

This one county in the north of England is home to an array of natural attractions that make it one of the most recognisable places in the UK. 

With Lakeland towns like Windermere, Ambleside, and Keswick to journey to and admire, other much smaller places can often get overlooked.

Aira Force Waterfall 

This natural wonder has attracted visitors for over 300 years. 

The waterfall is the result of rainwater running from the fells into Aira Beck and falling some 65-foot creating one of the most dramatic sites you're likely to see. 

It is just a short journey from Ullswater and there are plenty of picnic places to make this a full day out. 

You might even catch a glimpse of the rare red squirrel, one of the most evasive of Cumbria's critters. 

Muncaster Castle 

This historic, medieval, and allegedly haunted castle has been home to the Pennington family for over 800 years. 

The castle boasts a collection of art and antiques that have been collected throughout the ages. 

The castle sits atop 70 acres of woodland which are brimming with flora and fauna. 

Orrest Head 

This area truly is the definition of a hidden gem. After just a short walk you will be greeted with quite possibly the best view that the Lake District has to offer. 

Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's House

This was the beloved children's author's most beloved place to stay. To this day it is still packed full of her favourite things that she wanted visitors to enjoy for years to come.
