A Star Wars-themed blues band will perform later this year, promising ‘the ultimate geek night out’.

Blues Harvest, a pop culture party band known for performing at conventions and venues, are due to perform at The Brickyard in Carlisle on August 31.

A spokesperson from the venue said: “We want to turn this gig into the ultimate geek night out.

“Cosplay is encouraged, and we will also be hosting a cosplay competition on the night with the winners as chosen by Blues Harvest themselves receiving an out-of-this-world cash prize of £100.”

Adapting their name from ‘Blue Harvest’ (the fake working title used to hide the 1982 production of Return of the Jedi) the band first performed their blend of geek culture with film soundtrack themes and popular hits to an audience of Star Wars fans and celebrities at a convention in 2013, and since then have built up a reputation as the go-to party band for geek events.

The UK-based six-piece consists of Darth Paul (vocals and percussion), Lapti Nik (guitar and vocals), Ad Bane (guitar and backing vocals), Androo-Detoo (keyboards and backing vocals), Bass Windu (bass guitar) and Andylorian (drums and backing vocals).

"This talented sextet effortlessly fuse geek culture, nostalgia and energetic performances at their memorable live shows, blending their musical influences with fandom culture to result in an uplifting set of timeless movie bangers (Power of Love, Ghostbusters, Flash, Footloose), movie and TV soundtracks (Star Wars, The Mandalorian, Doctor Who, Red Dwarf), 70s awesome mixtape highlights (Hooked on a Feeling, Mr Blue Sky) and plenty of surprises along the way,” the venue added.

Their live shows are a multimedia feast, with movie and TV footage being projected along with the music.

Since forming, Blues Harvest have played at various comic-cons, with notable highlights including Disneyland Paris, Star Wars Celebration Chicago, Star Wars Celebration Europe After Party CANTINA at the O2 Arena Indigo twice, The National Space Centre, The Forge, and Bluedot Festival.

They’ve also collaborated with celebrities such as Ray Parker Jr (Ghostbusters), David W Collins (Star Wars), David Bradley (Game of Thrones / Harry Potter), Taylor Gray and Vanessa Marshall (Star Wars Rebels), Jett Lucas (Star Wars) and Mike Quinn (Star Wars / Labyrinth).
