A MAN who burgled a Carlisle phone shop and stole goods worth more than £3,000 has been jailed.
Talel Rmaida, 21, forced entry to Phone Gadgets, at the city centre Market Hall, while the business was closed on February 2 this year.
Carlisle Magistrates’ Court heard that ten mobile phones and £300 in cash was stolen, the total value of Rmaida’s loot being £3,005.
But he was caught by police and brought to justice after leaving his blood at the crime scene. This provided a match to DNA held on a police database.
Rmaida, of no fixed address, admitted burglary having entered the business as a trespasser.
He was sentenced by magistrates on Thursday following the preparation of a probation service pre-sentence report, and given a 15-week jail term.
