Cumbrians have always been fans of fashion and were only too keen to strut their stuff on the catwalk.


Whether at school or for a good cause, those living in the county have often donned outfits to impress the crowds.
As you can see from our pictures, they weren’t shy in striking a pose.
The first image shows model Shelley Ward looking stunning in a black and white dress at the Hospice at Home fashion show at Energus, Lillyhall.

Above is a picture of pupils at Armathwaite Community School, who, in 2016, organised a fashion show as part of an independent learning project. Left to right are Kara Tallentire, Abigail Smith, Ty Moffat (back) Rosie Gargett, Isabel Christmas, Rosie Clusker and Hannah Proud.

Even further back, in May 1965, models entertained ladies at Welton, near Carlisle.

Style has often served good causes and, in 2016, Bronja of Wigton held a fashion show at Blaithwaite House near Wigton, raising £2,734 for Wigton Baths.

In a similar vein, a Genevieve charity luncheon and fashion show at the Heather Glen Country House in Ainstable brought people together to raise money for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, alongside celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday.
