A DRUNK woman who ‘violently lashed out’ and refused to get in a police van after being arrested ‘never wants to go out again’.

Police came across Sianne Scott, 25, who was being restrained outside The Stock Exchange pub in Whitehaven on March 31, Workington Magistrates’ Court heard.

Pamela Fee, prosecuting, said the defendant was ‘lashing out violently’ and was described as ‘drunk’. While being detained, she lashed out at the officers with her feet, striking one of them.

Scott was taken to the floor and incapacitant spray had to be used. She was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

She continued to ‘violently lash out’ and kick out. All traffic on the road had to stop while police dealt with the incident.

Scott stated she wasn’t going in the police van. Four officers had to put her in the caged area of the vehicle.

She had her leg out to prevent the officers from closing the door and incapacitant spray had to be used again. She continued to kick and headbutt the cage.

While in custody, she flooded her cell and continued with the behaviour.

Scott, of Dalegarth Avenue, Whitehaven, pleaded guilty to resisting a police constable in execution of duty and being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

David Martin, defending, said: “She’s absolutely mortified. She wants to apologise to all concerned – the officers and the staff. She has got no excuse for it.

“She had far too much to drink. She is extremely sorry about it. She is a young lady with no previous convictions at all. She never wants to go out again.”

Magistrates fined Scott £120. She was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £48 victim surcharge.
