A handcrafted gift retailer in Whitehaven has announced its closure with hopes of relocation in the future.

Haven Artisan, on King Street (opposite New Look), will be closing on April 20.

Owners Lorraine and Adrian Barrett hope to relocate to Cockermouth in the future.

The store sells handmade items made by the couple and local crafters.

The shop recently made headlines when a life-size alien figure making a rude gesture was placed in the window,  causing a sensation in the town.

The 4ft 7in hand-painted model was 3D printed by Adrian and took just over a month to make.

While the physical shop will be closing, purchases can still be made directly to the duo for collection.

The duo expressed sadness at leaving Whitehaven, citing the need to move due to low footfall.

In a post on social media, they said: "We will be having a name change, we will update that when we decide on one

"Thank you to all the loyal customers we have had in the last 18 months, I hope you stay with us when we move, we can post out.

"It's just a pity Whitehaven hasn't got the footfall we need to stay."
