More than 2600 properties in a Cumbrian town are now able to connect to full-fibre broadband.
Fibrus’ rollout in Wigton is the latest, following Workington, Parton, and Ambleside, which have recently been connected to the network.
Fibrus said the broadband allows speeds of up to one gigabyte.
Colin Hutchinson, CFO, said: “The work we have carried out in Wigton means that local residents connectable to the network will no longer have to tolerate unreliable speeds from old copper lines,” and added: “As you will have fibre directly to your home, you will no longer need a traditional telephone line.
“If you use your telephone line for making and receiving calls, we can provide you with an excellent low-cost alternative using VoIP (voice over IP) Technology.”
Fibrus said it is ‘transforming the digital infrastructure’ of rural areas of the UK by investing more than £700million to bring full-fibre broadband to homes across Northern England and Northern Ireland.
