Women overtook men in driving test pass rates at Workington Test Centre last year, new figures show.

Figures from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency show male drivers took 1,478 tests at Workington Test Centre in 2023, 826 of which were successful – a pass rate of 55.9 per cent.

Meanwhile, 56 per cent of the 1,319 tests taken by women were passed over this period.

In 2019, 47.1 per cent of women gained their licence at the centre compared to 53.3 per cent of men – a gap of 6.2 percentage points in men’s favour. This meant females have now overtaken males in pass rates.
