A Carlisle sewing shop has thanked the support of its customers after reaching 18 years of business this week.
Bella Santos set up Sewing Solutions in the Market Hall back in 2006, before moving to its current Bank Street location in 2022.
Sewing Solutions is a popular sewing and alterations shop that works on all types of clothing and curtain alterations, with a speciality on wedding dresses and suits.
Speaking to the News & Star, she said: "I came to this country in 2003 and I opened my shop in 2006. We originally opened in the market and it was hard because I had to learn a lot. I've never regretted coming here, I work very hard and I'm successful. I always try my best to keep my customers happy so that they come back."
Sewing Solutions work closely with local business Carol's Bridal Boutique to help provide the perfect dress for brides on their wedding day.
She said: "I've had customers that came when we first opened that still come today. Any type of job, anything is welcome. We always try our best to help because my customers need me, but I need my customers. If they're happy, they will come back again.
"The majority of people who have come here have been happy, reaching 18 years is proof of that. Everyone makes mistakes but the secret is to just keep going and try the best you can."
Bella only realised that the shop had reached its 18th anniversary when she received a card from the husband of one of her recent employees.
She added: "You won't believe this but I'm so busy all the time that I forget one happens. One of my girls who worked here has decided to go back to India as she is pregnant. Her husband came by to drop her uniform off and he handed over a card. 18 years is a long time but the time has flown by, it feels like I opened yesterday. I enjoy what I do so I'm never tired. It won't be easy when I retire."
