A DOG is still searching for a new home nearly two years after being rescued by a Cumbrian animals charity.

Connie the lurcher has been in the care of Eden Animal Rescue for around 700 days after being abandoned by her previous owner in a field near the charity's centre in Temple Sowerby, Penrith.

Despite Connie being taken care of by the charity for nearly two years, they remain optimistic about the lurcher, which they describe as being good with other dogs and older children.

As the charity continues its mission to re-home Connie, they described the circumstances that led to her being taken into their care.

Writing on their website, they said: "Connie sadly was left in a field near the centre so we have no history about her.

"When we rescued her she had been trying to get out of the field and had made a real mess of herself on the barbed wire."

Eden Animal Rescue has also detailed the requirements of Connie's future owner, with the charity using the limited information about her to create these.

They said: "We believe that she has been a working dog, so we are looking for a home without any small animals and where she is unable to see livestock from the garden.

"Connie has lots of energy and is very strong on a lead so continuous training will be needed.

"It is also possible that she has never lived in a house before but she is very clever and will learn new experiences very quickly."
