Helen Rebanks, the 'Farmer’s Wife' and author of a Sunday Times bestseller, will take to the stage at this year's Taste Cumbria festival in Wigton.

Known as one of the highlights of the gastronomic calendar, the festival is scheduled to take place on April 20, with the main event being held from 10am – 5pm at the Water Street car park.

Mrs Rebanks' audience Q&A, however, will take place in Cornerstone Methodist Church on High Street, starting from 6.30pm.

She will be appearing with broadcaster Kate Walby, a familiar face on ITV Border television.

Aside from being a successful author, Mrs Rebanks manages a farm at Matterdale near Ullswater with her husband James.

The family initially gained recognition through her husband's Twitter account, where he goes by the name of 'Herdy Shepherd'.

Mrs Rebanks' book, which intertwines her memoirs with the recipes that have marked her life, has been dubbed "a gorgeous portrait of life at Helen Rebanks’ Lake District farmhouse as well as a heartfelt and honest delve into the truth about the grind and the glory of keeping a home and raising a family today."

The Q&A session hosted by Ms Walby promises to be an enlightening look into the authentic Cumbrian rural life.

Following the Q&A, Mrs Rebanks will be signing copies of her book.

Tickets, which are priced at £15 each, can be bought at www.visitallerdale.co.uk/things-to-do/taste-cumbria-wigton

Besides the Q&A, the festival will also host a medley of other attractions such as food and drink stalls, a young entrepreneur's market, plenty of live music, and various family entertainments.

The Taste Cumbria events are organised by Cumberland Council.

The council's executive member for Vibrant and Healthy Places, Councillor Anne Quilter, said: "We are so pleased to welcome Helen Rebanks to the first Taste Cumbria festival of 2024 and hope you love hearing her talk about her book and her life."

"Thank you also to Kate Walby for agreeing to ask the burning questions.

"She’s perfectly placed to host this event as she’s so embedded in our communities.

"This is the fourth time we’ve staged a Taste Cumbria festival in Wigton and I hope it’s another great success."
