Promising young Carlisle boxer Aiden McKnight is going for glory in the National Junior Championships this weekend.

The 14-year-old is competing in the semi-finals in Loughborough on Saturday where he will hope to reach Sunday’s final.

McKnight, from Border City Amateur Boxing Club, will take on Anthony Maughan from Burslem in the last four, with Harlie Maguire from The Factory and Kenzi Raja from Northampton contesting the other semi-final.

In the under-70kg category, McKnight has already seen off Tyne Tees champion Noah Hudson as well as, last weekend, East Midlands champion Kalel McKinley, defeating the latter with an impressive unanimous victory.

McKnight is the latest promising young boxer to emerge from Border City, who can boast a multiple national as well as European teenage champion in John Joe Carrigan.
