A loving and loyal one-year-old Lurcher named after Ireland’s most famous drink is hoping St Patrick’s Day brings him the luck of the Irish as he searches for a new home.

Staff at Dogs Trust Cumbria say Guinness is a very sweet young lad who has led a sheltered life to date so is looking to learn all about the exciting world around him.

Lisa Spence, Transfer Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Cumbria said: “Guinness is a very sweet natured and gentle sighthound who has yet to experience all that life has to offer so he can be shy when meeting new people and in new situations.

"He is a friendly lad with both people and dogs so he could share his home with another dog after successful meets.

Living with a confident doggy companion could greatly help build his confidence by watching, playing and learning from another dog.

He loves to play and is a comical boy when he is running around at great speed.

"He is still a pup at heart therefore requires further training so we are looking for patient, kind and dedicated adopters who will proceed at Guinness’s pace.

Guinness has limited experience of living within a home environment so will require to be housetrained.  He could live with children aged 14 and over but cannot live with small animals.

A home with a secure garden is required where he can enjoy playtime.
