MEET the seven miniature dachshunds that are aiming to take Crufts 2024 by storm.

Janice Cumberland, who is originally from Doncaster but is now based in Low Row, Brampton, is set to take seven of her miniature dachshunds to the iconic dog show which is taking place at Birmingham's NEC between Thursday, March 7, and Sunday, March 10.

Janice will also be accompanied by her three daughters, Rachel, 23, Lucy, 21, and Chloe, 18, at a time which she described as being like 'Christmas' for their family.

She said: "I would say Crufts is a bit like Christmas.

"You look forward to it all year round, you spend a load of money on stuff that you are probably not going to actually need, there is all this big hype and when you actually get there it is actually better than you expect.

"You spend those three or four days with family and friends so it is very much like Christmas.

"It is something that we enjoy doing as a family. My daughters are all now adults but they are still at home and it is something that we do as a family.

2024 represents Janice's 10th year as a Crufts competitor and she explained how the intense year-long qualifying process pales in comparison to stepping out onto the event's storied stage.

She said: "We are representing our breed in the breeders' final which we are especially proud of, because it is something you have to qualify for.

News and Star: "You have to work all year round to get into the final but we go into the main ring at Crufts under the lights and on the green carpet and we just enjoy the whole occasion of it."
