Poppy

Poppy is a 5-year-old cob mare, newly broken in and continuing her educational path towards being a ridden project pony.

She is lively, bold, and full of spirit. She shows off a sweet and lovable character, avid to learn but still very green.

Poppy head collars and catches well, she can be forward-going with a strong attitude at times when leading, jogging with excitement. She loves to be groomed and accepts bathing and clipping with ease.

Poppy is good with the farrier and vet however is nervous about needles and will become frightened if pressured.

Improvement has been made, but ongoing training is required to help grow her confidence. Poppy loads and travels well in a trailer, but she has not yet encountered anything larger.

Poppy has learned to lunge and long rein in an arena as well as out in open fields and bridleways. Having learned the basics in her schooling Poppy has started regular hacking which has exposed her to new environments and increased her strength, stamina, and overall fitness.

As expected with a youngster, Poppy can be easily spooked when hacking out, however, willingly follows a more experienced horse.

She has proven to be good in traffic such as cars, cyclists, and farm machinery. Poppy is good in open spaces and loves a gallop! She can become excited at times but never strong or silly.

Poppy has been taken to a local in-hand showing show with the hopes to do more such as a show jumping class to help improve her confidence in new environments before being rehomed.

Currently, Poppy is turned out with mares through the day and stabled overnight. She has also lived with geldings and got on very well.

We are looking for an experienced home for Poppy who can continue developing her as a ridden pony.

Poppy is still very green and, therefore requires a knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated rehomer. Poppy would suit a confident teenager or small adult as she is not a novice rider.

Rolo

News and Star: RoloRolo (Image: Oak Tree Animals' Charity)

10-year-old Rolo is on the lookout for his new home after his owner sadly passed away. This handsome boy would love a home where he is the only pet in a non-built-up area with a secure garden. He can be nervous about new things and people but once he gets to know you, he is a big goofball!

Rolo loves exploring the outside world, his favourite things to do are sniff everything and roll around in the grass! When he isn't exploring, he enjoys finding a sunny spot to relax and take a nap. He is a big boy (36kg) who walks nicely on the lead most of the time however, he can be strong when he wants to be.

He has the potential to live with older children (13+) who understand he can be nervous, may need a little time to become comfortable, and depending on successful viewings here at Oak Tree.
