WITH the Christmas holidays fast approaching, you might be searching for ways to keep your young ones entertained.

Well, there’s some festive fun to be had with all the family at the Lakeland Motor Museum.

It’s a Christmas mystery for you and the kids to solve. Twelve of Santa’s mischievous little elves have gone astray amid the vintage vehicles, motorbikes and other fascinating exhibits at the popular attraction in Backbarrow.

The mission for visitors is to track them down and have some festive fun along the museum’s Elf Trail.

Youngsters, parents and grandparents are encouraged to see if they can crack clues on a special “clue sheet”, as they wander by the museum’s stunning exhibits, to track down the cheeky little imps. When you spot one of the errant elves – why not take a Christmas s-elfie to prove it?

When you have spotted all 12 of the elves head to the Museum Shop, where Father Christmas leaves a present for all youngsters who take the Elf Trail.

It’s a perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with the family during the festive season – and if Elf spotting builds up an appetite, you can grab a bite to eat or something to drink in the riverside Café Ambio.

The Elf Trail at Lakeland Motor Museum runs every day in December up to and including Christmas Eve. The cost is £10 for children aged five and over and £5 for children under five and the ticket includes the Christmas present from Santa.

Adult admission is £11 but with a Local Residents’ Discount Card it’s half price. The card also entitles holders to a 50 per cent discount on all scheduled sailings on England’s longest lake with Windermere Lake Cruises.

While at the museum, in the scenic Leven Valley, you could do a bit of present buying in the museum shop. It has jewellery, handbags, purses, model cars, toys, games, books and more to choose from. The Local Residents’ Discount Card also gives holders a 15 per cent discount in the gift shop until December 31.

And if you get a taste for classic and vintage vehicles, why not make a return visit for the museum’s annual Boxing Day Classic Drive and Ride in Day?

It’s a seasonal celebration of the rich heritage of classic and vintage vehicles and motorcycles in the North West and promises to be a day filled with nostalgia and horsepower.

It takes place on Tuesday, December 26 from 10am to 1pm and previous years have seen over 150 vehicles attend.

You don't have to own a classic vehicle to attend, just simply go along, view the cars on display, and enjoy the festive atmosphere.
