LOCAL pub hoping to showcase their 'love' for real ale with a German-style beer festival.

The Queens at Warwick-on-Eden will host the festival between Friday, October 13 and Sunday, October 15, and is encouraging people to experience real ales.

The event is set to feature 'over 30' cask ales and after being inspired by the German folk festival, Oktoberfest will also feature over 15 types of locally sourced sausages, from Cumberland to Bratwurst.

The Queens will also collaborate with other locals to bring the festival to life, with live music and bread sourced from Warwick Bridge's Corn Mill.

The Queens manager Tim Frayne, speaking ahead of the event, said: "We wanted to have a beer festival because we love beer, especially cask beer.

"Unfortunately, real ale from a cask is not a style that gets the attention it deserves and doesn't pick up as many new drinkers as it should.

"We want to promote it as a style and give people the opportunity to experience a wide range of quality ales in one place.

"With over 30 on offer, we think this is a fantastic way to introduce new people to cask ale and a good excuse for those who have already embraced it to try a new beer or enjoy an old favourite."
