KINGMOOR Nursery and Infant School enjoyed 'the best day ever' with their annual fun day.

The school's fun day had been an annual event however after the pandemic was repurposed with the goal of providing its young students with the experiences they missed out on due to the various Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions.

The theme of this year's fun day was 'Kingfest' with the staff at the school creating a festival for the students that included fairground rides and attractions, a double-decker karaoke bus, and a bouncy castle.

Nicky Corfield, the headteacher at Kingmoor Nursery and Infant School, helped organise the event and provided more details about why the event was created.

She said: "Following the pandemic we wanted to look at what we could offer our children where we were able to allow them to experience this that they have missed out on during the pandemic.

"For the last two years, we had it as a beach day, so we brought the beach to Kingmoor and it was about providing those experiences that the children had missed out on, like traveling further afield, being able to visit fairgrounds together and being able to take part in a range of activities.

"This year we thought we would have a change of theme and we came up with 'Kingfest' and thought we would have a festival."

Kingfest took place on Wednesday, July 12 and Nicky was keen to sincerely thank a number of businesses and organisations that helped make the day possible.

She thanked Aqua Pura for donating water bottles to the event's water bar, where children could order drinks at the festival, Kingmoor Park for sponsoring the event, and Stagecoach for providing the double-decker that was renovated into a karaoke bus.

All of these elements combined to make a day that all the children enjoyed with Nicky sharing her favourite moments from the event.

She said: "There is a little video I was looking at before of some of year one children who were on one of the swing rides all shouting 'best day ever!'."
