Swindon boss Ben Garner believes Carlisle United are capable of being “a real threat” as the sides prepare to meet today.

The Robins are preparing for a big crowd to return to the County Ground for their first home game of the season.

There is a new feel-good factor around Swindon after the recent takeover by Australian businessman Clem Morfuni and the end of the unpopular Lee Power regime.

New head coach Garner led a new-look side to an opening-day win over Scunthorpe - but believes Chris Beech’s Blues will provide stiff opposition.

"Last season they had a really good season,” said Garner at a press conference yesterday.

“I watched their game from last Saturday and they had really good opportunities to score.

“They had a tough cup game against Sheffield United but they look really organised and a real threat. Chris Beech has done a really good job since going in there.

“We're really looking forward to it with it being our first home game and having the supporters in."

Garner told Total Sport Swindon that Ben Gladwin, Kaine Kesler Hayden, Akin Odimayo and Dion Conroy are fit for the game, while Mathieu Baudry is being assessed. Jordan Lyden is out.

Supporters’ groups are urging as many home fans as possible to wear red at the game and give the new era a colourful welcome.

"The energy Clem Morfuni gives supporters is incredible and he is delivering on his promises,” added Garner, who last night added Wales international midfielder Jonny Williams to his squad.

“We are really excited about the game from a football and community point of view.

“We are really looking forward to the atmosphere and having fans back supporting the team.”

Carlisle announced a total of 253 tickets had been bought by travelling fans before the Thursday 5pm deadline. Tickets are not available today.
