Emergency crews were called overnight to help rescue a man who'd allegedly jumped in the river at Glenridding.
The call-out came in about 3am with firefighters from across the area attending.
The man is believed to have entered the river somewhere near the centre of the village, which is on the shores of Ullswater.
Making the incident even more dangerous was the high rivers levels brought on by Storm Callum's torrential rain.
The man was found "safe and well" a short while later.
